I gave the first book in the series a 5 star rating. The first 2/3 of that book, where the MC were the focal point was brillant. Best in genre.This second book is mired by endless dialogue about boring mumdane problems. Who is going to be Cook, Who is going to be in charge of dishwashing. The author Even has the MC liken this to simcity. An apt anology. Boring in the extreme.The juvenile tendencies (harem in light version) are accentuated and subtract from the serious and grave ambiance set in the first book.Please kill off every charcter except MC and his mute skeleton. A few things were off for me. First thing I noticed was sentence structure errors. They appeared every so often. I needed to reread whatever section they came to be sure I had the correct meaning. This in turn broke the flow of the story and my interest from time to time.Second, the author tries to validate or justify a number of morally or ethically questionable actions committed by characters. Whether this is to develop the characters conflicting nature or convince the reader it's all right, I'm unsure, maybe a bit of both. What I do know is that the consistent rehashing of the same justifications gives me pause. I wonder whether or not the author is sincere or just writing a blank check so that a character that is supposed to be a white knight can be a something else in disguise. Whatever the case, it would be nice if other story telling elements that describe similar situations were used rather than this repetitiveness.All told a decent book.
